So, today was the first full day living on the island. I've obviously spent whole days here but this one was a bit different. First thing this am we drove down to the hospital where I will be working.

Jimmy went in with me and was able to meet my nursing director and the HR director.  We had to go there because you have to have a letter from your employer stating that you will be working on the island and will need a bank account. Once at the back I had to fill out six pages of forms. Some of the questions were really strange to me..."How did you acquire your wealth?" and Why do you need an account?"....really?
After my accounts were opened we headed to one of the cellular carriers here to check out how much the services will be. Tomorrow we will check out the other carrier and I will get service so I can communicate with Jimmy when we aren't together and the rest of the island. After a stop at the grocery I went home to organize my stuff and Jimmy had to run to work for an hour. While I was home it started raining so I took video from our front door of the sounds of the rain hitting the porch roof and a bird singing in the tree.

When Jimmy got home we went to check out the only Mexican restaurant we've seen so far. It was no El Vaquero or Abuelo's, but it was edible. It must have been good enough to do the job because as soon as we got home we had to nap! Once awake we left the house again. Jimmy went lobstering and I went to the beach. I can't catch the lobsters and definitely won't kill them so it was more fun for me to lay on the beach. But, 5 minutes after getting there it started to rain again. Normally that's no problem but my phone and kindle are not waterproof so I had to get out of there. So, I covered them with a towel inside my beach bag and walked down the beach to a fun little bar called Calico Jack's. I found refuge under an umbrella at a picnic table, connected to their wi-fi and ordered a beer. The rain almost immediately stopped and I was able to get a photo of the beautiful setting sun.

Now we're home watching the Alamo bowl and feeling grateful that we have another day off together. Tomorrow we will find a new beach that we haven't been to, stop for jerk chicken on the roadside (lots of Jamaicans here) and find a place to celebrate the new year. I hope to have great pictures of our NYE celebration to share with you!
Wish you were here!

The day is finally here! I am moving! Yeah, I’ve been moving all year. But, with each move I get farther away from where I started. From Columbus to Gahanna, from Gahanna to Mt. Sterling, and finally from Mt. Sterling to Grand Cayman. Each move is for the better and makes me more and more happy.

The move to my parents is exactly what I needed before my biggest move. We packed the U-Haul to the brim and despite the rain, having to take apart my bed to get it down the stairwell, getting the U-Haul stuck in the mud and one busted Christmas tree ornament, the move was seamless. This past week that I have gotten to spend with my family has been perfect. My dad’s birthday, making Christmas dinner with my mom, feeding the goats, collecting eggs from the chickens, playing with the kittens, my grandma’s birthday, watching movies and playing games has made this last week in Ohio the best note to go out on.

And now I’m on to the next move. A 1400 mile move! A move to be with the one I’ve wanted all my life. This move is obviously a big, drastic, and exciting one because it is so far and out of the country. But, I would move to Fargo, Hoboken, Pittsburgh, (insert any cold, dreary city here), or even….M!$!%@n to be with Jimmy. But, thankfully it is to a beautiful, tropical island! So, this blog is going to be my way of sharing the experiences I/we have in a totally new culture. Wish me luck! My flight is waiting! See you next in Grand Cayman!
